The Ultimate!!!

It was such an honor to be the florist for the 2011 Ultimate Utah Wedding! The football field setting was so fun and of course the Rice Eccles  Stadium is a stunning venue for any event! The popular vote to use James Story orchids and Red roses for the wedding of Lee and Katrina was absolutely perfect. (Good job Fans!) The flowers set the mood for an evening of love and romance.

Thank you to Bride Access, the University of Utah and to the darling Bride and Groom for letting us share the day with you!

And Speaking of Birthdays...

With the biggest birthday month of the year upon us, so many of us are faced with that all too familiar question of what on earth we are going to give as a gift this year. Whether it is a family member, co-worker, or friend, buying for birthdays can be so hard! Wouldn't we all love to give that perfect, unique, fun, and well received gift? We have some great ideas! We will be posting various birthday gift ideas throughout the month, so allow us to help you brain storm and come up with that perfect something that you are looking for!

These beautiful Orchids make for a beautiful, simple, yet elegant gift that is suitable for just about anyone's birthday. The most highly coveted of ornamental plants, the delicate, exotic and graceful orchid represents love, luxury, beauty and strength. During the Victorian era, orchid symbolism shifted to luxury, and today this sense of magnificence and artful splendor continues, with orchids representing rare and delicate beauty.* Your boss, mother, mother-in-law, sister, or friend would be flattered to be on the receiving end of such a sophisticated and stunning arrangement!

Never Has Sugar Been So Sweet!

We enjoyed another fabulous event last night, "Mothers and Daughters Pamper Each Other", with doTERRA representative, Abbie Drage. She showed us so many fun and creative ways to put these wonderful essential oils to good use in our every day lives, including how to incorporate them into our food and home spa (see below for her sugar scrub recipe!) We greatly enjoyed making new friends and spending the evening with the ladies! Thank you so much to Abbie for hosing this event and providing such a refreshing outlook on ways to better treat ourselves. For all those who weren't able to attend, Abbie will be having regular events here at Brown Floral involving doTERRA essential oils, so be sure to get the next one on your calendar... we will be making fudge! If you are interested in purchasing, learning more, or have any questions regarding doTERRA oils, you can contact Abbie at (801) 792-0887 or email her at abickins@msn.com

A+!

When Pat Pignanelli asked us to decorate for the First Annual Holladay City Scholarship Dinner, we knew exactly what we wanted to do to set the mood for the evening!

Congratulations to Claire Thomas and Josue Barraza from Skyline High, Grace Hong and Zachary Wright from Olympus High and Hannah Hirst and Braden Tedrow from Cottonwood.  Each student received a $500.00 scholarship award to continue their education.

And as for Brown Floral- We think we deserve an A+ on the centerpieces! Aren’t they adorable?

New in the Shop!

Right now we have some really fun things in the shop for both babies and small children. We recently got in this great plush Noah's Ark set that comes complete with 6 "bean" filled animals (tiger, zerbra, lion, giraffe, elephant, and leopard),  and has a little handle, making it the perfect tote for any tot to carry! One thing that makes this so great is that it is totally washable, so it can stand to take a little wear and tear while on the road, and then be washed up and back to new in no time. It is perfect for travel and a great quiet toy to bring along to church! This makes for a fun and unique gift for your children, grandchildren, or friends. Our two year old absolutely LOVES hers, and spends the better part of an hour every day taking the animals in and out of the boat and carrying it all over the house, watch the video of the two year old testimonial!

An Evening of Excellance!

Saturday night was FABULOUS! We enjoyed such a wonderful evening with truly amazing women. Quinn gave a great workshop on finding greater joy in our lives, teaching on how to "be present" and clear our minds of unproductive and stressful thinking that adds stress to our lives and detracts from the beautiful moments that surround us every day. She challenged each of us to create a "joy list" of 25 things that bring us joy, and to use it to draw happiness during the more challenging times of our day. There was a wonderful feeling in the room as Quinn spoke, I think we all greatly benefited from her message!

(If you are interested in hearing more about what Quinn spoke about, her book is now available to buy online!!! For this weekend only, use the promotion code "happy-birthday" at checkout and get 50% off! Go here to buy her ebook "Mothers Alive with Passion, Peace, and Purpose," you will LOVE it!)

After being emotionally uplifted by Quinn, we were privelaged to hear from Katie Dudley, an extremely talented Utah Photographer who specializes in food, children, and family photography. She taught us great tricks on how to better capture the beautiful moments in our life with our cameras, encouraging us to go beyond "auto" mode and explore the various options that our cameras have to offer. She also taught us about composition as well as the importance of lighting in photography and how to capture the perfect light so as to capture the perfect picture!
(To see Katie's beautiful work and for more information on hiring her to capture the beauty of your loved ones, visit her blog, she would love to hear from you!)

To conclude the evening, we heard from Abbie on the powerful benefits of doTERRA essential oils, and the incredible ability they have to ease stress, tension, headaches, and achieve an overall feeling of balance and serenity. After hearing about some of the wonderful things these amazing oils have to offer, we enjoyed making bath salts and getting to try the oils out for ourselves! Abbie gave a great introductory class on these oils, but she was only scratching the surface! We are so excited to host another event here at Brown Floral to further delve into the world doTERRA, so if you couldn't make it last Saturday, or if you came but are wanting to learn more (I know I am!) then come on August 5th to our "Mothers and Daughters Pamper Each Other" event. Go HERE to learn more about it and reserve your ticket, there is limited space available so be sure to buy your ticket ASAP, we would LOVE to see you there!

We are so grateful for these lovely ladies coming and sharing their talents with us, we look forward to hosting many future events just like this one!
